Holly-Hunter

Holly Hunter (born Holly Hunter) is an American actor and producer. She has gained recognition for her exceptional performances in films including Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Piano, as well as The Incredibles. Her work has been recognized with numerous awards, like an Oscar for the film Piano. The accomplished actress started her acting career in the theatre with an array of Broadway as well as Off-Broadway productions. Enthusiastic about acting from the time she was in school, she portrayed Helen Keller in a play in fifth grade. The fifth grade was the year that following a bout of mumps, she lost her hearing in her left ear. However, she did not let it stop her from performing. While in college, she took classes in theatre and later moved from Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, to New York City in pursuit of her goal. Hunter was stuck in the elevator of the playwright Beth Henley when she met her. They worked together to write Broadway Crimes of the Heart which marked Hunter's Broadway debut. When she moved into Los Angeles, Hunter tried to land film roles. The role of a supporting actress was securing for Swing Shift. Holly Hunter has been in numerous films, TV series and films over the course of a 30-year career. Holly Hunter has a Hollywood Walk of Fame star as well as the Women in Film Lucy Award.
